This Chesterfield 3 seater leather sofa made during the 70s. It is based on the classic English style from the 19th century. It is one of the most recognizable pieces of furniture in the world. The chest of the sofa is made of solid wood and upholstered with natural leather in light shades of brown. The sofa has three loose, thick and comfortable seat cushions. Deeply embedded buttons, that are permanently embedded in the characteristic quilted sofa, and spiral springs improve comfort during use and relaxation.

As it became more popular, the Chesterfield sofa found its way into the homes of many wealthy families, where the trend was for sofas upholstered in luxurious velvet or leather to match the elegant décor around them. Sofas have also become the equipment of many London gentlemen’s clubs, such as White’s founded in 1693 and Carlton Club founded in 1832. For centuries, a comfortable place to sit and chat for the city’s most influential men. One of the most popular uses of the 19th century Chesterfield sofa was the office of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. While developing his technique, he realized that the most effective way of extracting the patient’s innermost thoughts and feelings is to make patients speak freely, without fear of overtones, so he always carried this sofa with him when traveling the world.

This sofa is in original vintage condition with traces of age and a natural patina. It has cracks and scrapes on the leather. The seat is 44 cm high.
