Bolesław Utkin (1913 – 1993) was born in Moscow but spent his entire life in Poland. In 1932, he graduated from the Professional Graphic School in Łódź and then the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź under the supervision of Władysław Strzemiński (they collaborated on many projects together later). Utkin used geometric forms and pure colors. He painted landscapes, later geometric compositions, as well as series of Bones, Sea, and City. Exhibitions of his works were held at the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw in 1978 and BWA in Łódź in 1983. Today, the author’s works are in the Museum of Modern Art in Łódź.
