Vide Jansson (1924 – 2007). He was a Swedish graphic artist, painter and sculptor. Jansson studied at the Otte Sköld painting school in Stockholm. He continued his education in Spain and France. In 1958 he founded Grödingegruppen, which included himself, Rune Pettersson and Nalle Werner, and for a time also Gerry Eckhardt and Sixten Haage. The group also had exhibitions abroad, incl. in Rome, Milan, Hamburg and Montreal, as well as in the USA and Poland. Together with Björn (Nalle) Werner, he exhibited at De Ungas salong in Stockholm in 1953 and participated in the collective exhibition Parisersalongen in Esseltehasllen and in the traveling exhibition promoting the art of popular movements Art on Paper. Jansson’s graphic experiments with prints and glue produced vivid, abstract images. Interesting are its polychrome wooden reliefs, processed with powerful tools and cut from monolithic blocks with hammered dowels and nails. His public works include wooden reliefs for the Swedish Wood Institute and a polychrome wooden relief for the Astra factory in the Netherlands, and reliefs for the municipality of Lidingö.
