Mid-Century Modern

A trend in architecture, graphics and design describing the development of design from the mid 20th century. The name was created by Carla Greenberg in Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s (Random House) in 1983. It is one of the most significant design moves, ASSOCIATED MAINLY WITH SCANDINAVIA AND DANISH MODERN STYLE. It is characterized by warm colors, contrasting play, lines, geometry, functionality and subtle minimalism. During this period many unique furniture were created, which today are considered as cult. Mid-century modern is a visual simplicity that complements the natural materials such as noble wood, steel or copper.
