Description
This antique handmade Shiraz rug was manufactured around 1890 in Persia. The rug is in traditional deeply brown, red and dark blue colors with a geometric, tribal pattern. This hand-knotted carpet is unique and the pattern is typical for nomads with motifs of simple geometric figures. Shiraz rugs were initially made to be used inside tribal tents which are often mobile and move from one place to another. It has a decorative kelims on the short sides to protect the carpet against wear. The warp and weft are made of wool. This rug is tight and thin (approx. 200.000 knots per square meter).
