Description
This hand-knotted oriental rug was made in Pakistan in the 1960s. Traditionally flat woven and dyed in shades of blue and gray. It was woven with natural wool and cashmere. Due to the appropriate treatment and polishing, the wool obtains a beautiful shine. It has a high knot density which makes the rug durable. Today, Bukharian rugs are considered to be among the finest carpets produced in Pakistan. The carpet is decorated with repeating geometric patterns. Hand-knotted rugs are made using techniques structural integrity to the parts. They are made of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of threads tied to the cotton or wool base of the rug. Hand-knotted rugs are made by repeatedly passing the warp through the rug weft. These techniques ensure that every part of the carpet is an integral part of the carpet structure. The production of carpets in Pakistan is similar to that in India, and after the partition of these countries, most of the Muslim weavers moved to the Pakistani side.
The carpet is in original vintage condition. Before shipping, the rug will be professionally cleaned and ready to use.
