Description
This classic Senator series easy chair was designed by Ole Wanscher for Cado (formally France & Søn) in 1951. Ole Wanscher was a key player in Denmark’s mid-century modern movement. In the postwar era, the simple and refined aesthetic he achieved by reinventing classic forms helped define Scandinavian design, and many of his pieces became staples in Scandinavian homes. Although many of his designs were manufactured by some of Denmark’s best cabinet makers and were of very high quality, this design was one of his most recognise. France & Søn, and later Cado, were able to mass produce this design and retain the quality and classic feel that many of Wanscher’s pieces are known for. The frame is constructed of massive pieces of solid oak timber. The joinery is fantastic and the soft real leather upholstery make it very comfortable to sit in. A classic and sophisticated design that would complement any modern environment.
This one is in original vintage condition. On the back of the headrest is a burr but I don’t know why. Probably previous owner attached its.
