This Bastiano leather set of sofa and armchair was designed by Tobia Scarpa and made by the Finnish Haimi manufacture in the 1960s. The frame is made of solid oak in natural tone. The set is very comfortable because it has thick cushions falling into the frame, The cushions have been covered with soft, brown natural leather. The frame acts like AN basket that holds pillows together. The back of the sofa and armchair is linear, making this set perfect to be placed centrally in the place that is most appreciated.
The Bastiano line is AN timeless project. The comfortable appearance matched well with modern and traditional interiors and was one of the most successful designs of this period. Although the Bastiano Lounge models are no longer produced, some designers cite them as an important design point. Mainly due to the successful harmony of soft pillows and AN hard exoskeleton.
