Framed work

The painting depicts an expressionistic, symbolic night scene. The composition is dark, atmospheric, with distinct, contrasting color accents. The use of thick layers of paint and expressive lines lends the piece a strong, emotional resonance. The painting has a strongly metaphorical character — it could speak of a spiritual journey, ritual, transience, or an encounter with the unknown. The painting style draws on expressionism and primitivism, with a strong emotional and symbolic charge.

Frideborg Bryth (1910 – 2007) was born in Huskvarna. She was married to the artist Lennart Lilja. They had the studio together and focused mainly on oil and acrylic painting. In 1978, they published the book Yttringar with Lennart’s poems and Frideborg’s illustrations. They both belonged to the Dalsland Artists Association.

Work in original vintage condition. The frame has traces of use and age.
