Description

This elegant, quilted sofa designed by John-Bertil Häggström for the Swedish manufacture Swed-Form, Skillingaryd during the 1970s. The sofa is upholstered in black natural leather with even quilting. The seat and backrest are separate elements and large pillows are combined by inserts with snaps. The frame is made of a gold-colored metal, which further stands out for its modernist aesthetics focused on the Hollywood Regency style. This highly comfortable sofa with an ergonomic shape is perfect for a living room or a restroom.

The Hollywood Regency style is characterized by a bold use of colors and contrasts, often with metallic accents meant to signify both richness and comfort. The style is named after the Southern California film industry, which is characterized by the homes and estates of Hollywood actors and actresses from the Golden Age roughly from the 1920s to 1950s.

John-Bertil Häggström belongs to the Association of Swedish Industrial Designers. After being part of the IKEA team and other furniture manufacturers, John-Bertil began his career as a freelance designer working for Swedish and international companies. He designs furniture for both commercial and residential purposes. Häggström was honored, among others, with the Japanese G-design Award.

We have two sofas but the price is for one of them. Both sofas are in original vintage condition with traces of age, natural patina. The pieces have minor scrapes and scratches.
