Description

This very rare armchair was designed in 1964 by Bernt Petersen for the Danish manufacture Wørts Møbelsnedkeri during the 1960s. The frame of the armchair is made of light mahogany wood with French wicker woven into it. It fills the high backrest as well as the sides of the armchair forming the armrests. Three loosely placed pillows are upholstered with high-quality sand-colored natural fabric. The perfect proportions of the chair ensure high comfort while using it. Simple lines, natural materials, light colors of wood and upholstery are the perfect showcase of Mid Century Danish design.

Bernt Petersen is a Danish architect and furniture designer. In 1957 he graduated from a carpentry school and in 1960 he graduated from the School of Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he later worked as a teacher from 1978 to 1985. He also worked for Molibia and Hans J. Wegner before opening his own studio in 1963. Petersen is known for his simple style, and his furniture was mostly made of light wood. Several models are found in concert halls and theaters throughout Denmark. The object most associated with the designeris a small, light stool made of rosewood and cane, with beautifully shaped legs, which was created in 1959.

The armchair is in original vintage condition. It has minor traces of age and a natural patina. The seat is at a height of 42 cm.
